In house renovation, or in renovating whatever space that you like to have, the most basic thing that you need to start working with is the paint.

Painting a wall may seem a very simple task. In order to find the right mix of the paint to use and the right color to match your surroundings need a little more than just simple know-how.

There are those who prefer to use latex than oil-based formulations. A big advantage of latex paint is that it can be easily removed.  All you need is just soap and water and you can clean yourself of your equipments. If you have spills all over your work area, you can as easily clean it as well.

The latex paint is also famous because of its relatively flat finish. It can be smooth to touch as well as to look at. Latex also gives that soft look that is easy on the eyes. But, there are latex paints which are made with semi-gloss finish. This is perfect for those who want to have a little shine on their paints. This is an answer to those who need a little more life to latex paint as it can become dull.

If you are using latex, you do not have to wait really long. But, it can only be as short as 2 hours. This can be a very good thing. Then, after your first coating has dried, you can add the second coat. This can be a setback of latex. You really need to have second layer to be able to effectively coat whatever you aer painting.

Your painting equipments are also safe if you are using latex. You will not have a hard time washing them. Also there is a big guarantee that you can use it for your next painting job.

Latex paint and its color wear off, though. But this is only after a few months or even years, depending on the level of harshness of the elements. You also need to clean the surface that you are going to paint with latex.

If you are in the process of renovation of certain space, you can also use oil-based paints to do the job. This will entail more work from you. Also as much as 12 hours is needed before the paint can truly dry. If you want to put a second coating, you need to wait at least 24-48 hours before you can do so. You may try and paint it at a sooner time, but you may have disappointing results. That may only ruin your work.

Cleaning oil-based paints can be the greatest challenge. If furniture or a room in your house is under renovation through painting, it is recommended that you give time for the paint to totally dry before you can use the furniture move back in the room.
